On November 12th to 15th, the 56th ICCA Congress was held in Prague, Capital of Czech Republic. As an annual grand ceremony in the conference area, the four-day long event has witnessed a gathering of over 1200 awarding and conference organizers, practitioners and professional media workers from all around the globe.

This time, the Hangzhou Municipal Tourism Committee, as a cooperative partner of the Congress, set up the “Summit Hangzhou” brand promoting and interaction zone, which was not only full of Chinese characteristics and charms, but also boasted a modern vision.

Through image presentation and on-site interactions, the promoting delegate demonstrated Hangzhou’s images and advantageous resources as a conference and awarding destination to the attendees. After watching the VR video about Hangzhou’s conference and awarding industry, many of the conference organizers, professional media workers and colleagues in this field surprisingly uttered “gorgeous” or “amazing”. They also followed Hangzhou’s LinkedIn account and “claimed” their seals of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs. What’s more, they could hardly wait to decorate themselves with silk scarfs produced in Hangzhou.

In 2016, as issued by ICCA, Hangzhou was for the first time ranked among the top 100 destination cities to hold a conference in the world, for its achievements to hold altogether 27 international conferences in the last year. After the G20 Summit, Hangzhou’s reputation as an international conference destination city has been improved to a great extent. Also, its urban glamor and reception capacity has been increasingly acknowledged by conference organizers. Therefore, Hangzhou is making all its efforts, taking the “post-Submit and pre-Asian Games” period as a precious opportunity, to strive for more holding rights of international events and a top 80 ICCA rank. By striking a shining pose on the ICCA Congress, one of the world’s biggest ceremonies gathering conference organizers around the globe, Hangzhou is aimed at enhancing its brand influence, building up overseas channels, tapping overseas resources and looking for new developing opportunities.
Furthermore, ICCA Congress has always been attached great importance by conference practitioners around the world for its functions in industry views communication, information interactions and academic sharing. As a member organization of ICCA, this time the Hangzhou Municipal Tourism Committee participated in the Congress leading companies such as Zhejiang China Travel Agency, Hangzhou New China Travel Agency, Huanglong Hotel, and so on.

By taking part in various forums and sharing sessions specially set for destinations, conference centers/hotels, conference organizers/companies in the Congress, plus the statement part of “Best Marketing” competition as well as social activities, the Hangzhou delegate not only improved their professional skills in holding conference and awarding, but also helped build a broader platform for companies through deeper communications with practitioners in this field.
